Frank Lampard joins Manchester City on loan

Popular British footballer Frank Lampard has joined Man City on loan until January, reports the team's official site.

Lampard, 34, who spent 13 years at City rivals Chelsea before being released by the latter this year, recently signed a two-year contract with New York City FC.

On the 3rd of August, Man City announced he would be joining the club on a six-month long loan deal, set to end in January 2015, two months before the Major League Soccer season begins.

Frank Lampard himself on the loan move:

"It has been an amazing few days for me since the unveiling in Brooklyn and everyone connected with both clubs has been fantastic to me. This is a new chapter of my career and I'm really excited about the experience."

 City boss Manuel Pellegrini on the matter:

"Frank is a world class midfielder and this is an opportunity which works perfectly for everyone, the player, Manchester City, and New York City. I'm looking forward to working with him and integrating him into our squad. New York have made a fantastic signing by recruiting Frank, and I'm really pleased that we'll be able to have him with us for the first half of our season and help prepare him for his new challenge."

The English international has taken up kit number 18 at his new club in Manchester, as his preferred number 8 is worn by French midfielder Samir Nasri, 27.
